"In early July we packed up our 2 girls (along with what felt like most of our belongings!) and headed a few hours outside of Edmonton to ‘camp’ at Pigeon Lake Provincial Park in a yurt. It rained most of the time we were there, but we tried to make the best of it. The best of it one morning was turning up the little clock radio in the yurt as loud as it could go and having a dance party in our little 10x10 home-away-from-home as the rain poured down"
"I don't shoot out of focus images intentionally, and this was definitely a happy accident. It so accurately reflects our summer that I just couldn't toss it - July has whipped by in a blurry mess of sunny evening water fights, afternoons in the sprinkler, sidewalk chalk, the scent of sunscreen and dirty, grass stained knees."
One of the things I love about summer is heading out and walking through the tall grasses and running your fingers through it, feels like time slows down and you can just pause for the moment.
This one was taken earlier in the summer, the kids adore camping, even thunderstorms don't phase them anymore. Cuddle up with stuffies playing Spot It! while the thunder crashes and the lightning was casting shadows.
Vacation is a great time to record the time that you spend together even if its just a quick snap and includes bunny ears in the back. Record that you were there and not always behind the camera!
"There is no other relationship quite like that which can and should exist between a boy and his dad."
-Elder M. Russell Ballard
I read a quote once “Life must be lived as play” - Plato. This has stuck with me all summer as I watch my kids play and enjoy the sun! Being a busy mom its tough sometimes to just let go of routine and control but we only have 18 summers with our kids, so enjoy!
